Cole has formal training in classical and jazz piano, as well as musical theatre accompaniment. He is adept in all styles and has years of experience sightreading in audition rooms.

Cole has been music directing throughout his college career, and has already made his professional debut with Fun Home at Farmer’s Alley Theatre, in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He is trained as both a baton and piano conductor for musical theatre. His conducting and music directing credits include In the Heights, Cabaret, Legally Blonde, and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Cole has also proved himself as a reliable assistant music director, doing so both at the University of Michigan and at the Wagon Wheel Center for the Arts. His specialties include crafting strong, clean ensemble vocals and maintaining a high standard for pit orchestras.

Through a combination of self-taught techniques and formal training, Cole has quickly become involved in multiple productions as an orchestrator and arranger. After orchestrating the studio album of Dynamite: A Wicked Sweet Musical, Cole began orchestrating full length musicals, including SHEL (Noah Kieserman) and The Outs and Ins (Jacob Ryan Smith). He also created arrangements for University of Michigan Professor Geoff Packard’s play For the Record and has written arrangements that were performed at Feinstein’s/54 Below. His current orchestration projects include the short film John Comes Home (Jacob Ryan Smith).

In keeping up with the ever-expanding skillset required by the musical theatre field, Cole has developed a fluency in numerous aspects of music technology. He is trained in using MainStage, Logic, and Ableton. Cole also has experience crafting audio demos for orchestration purposes, and is proficient in Microsoft Office and both Mac and PC operating systems.

Cole has been formally trained in jazz piano for over seven years. As a high schooler, he would attend many late night jam sessions in Washington D.C. - since then he has played gigs at several clubs including Twins Jazz in D.C. and Germano’s in Baltimore. He regularly plays solo and trio gigs, and is available for private events.
Cole also is a founding member of the EM-C Trio and the Canterbury House Vocal Showcase, which has featured many talented singers in the past three years. The EM-C Trio has played many of Cole’s original compositions, and has performed at the Blue LLama Jazz Club in Ann Arbor. Information about upcoming gigs and will be published under News as soon as dates are determined.
Cole’s current jazz project is a series of vocal arrangements that are slated to be recorded in 2021.
Cole has played in dozens of pit orchestras over the past several years, developing his abilities as a reliable keyboard player. He is experienced in playing a variety of different styles of keyboard books, including string reductions, brass reductions, synthesizer books, Hammond B3 Organ, synthesized pipe organ, and accordion. Cole has even played a book doubling keyboard and auxiliary percussion! Cole is highly capable of maintaining good balance, and carefully following conductors while also maintaining communication with other members of the orchestra.
